The Bugle Boy is a great weekend destination in the small Texas town of La Grange. Folks will drive from Houston, Austin, San Antonio and even Dallas to hear a performance in this room. A Concert For Traci Lamar Hancock
On December 18th, a who’s who of founding members of the Austin music scene will be playing for one of their own. Starting at 1:30PM, Greezy Wheels, Ponty Bone, Extreme Heat, The Uranium Savages, and Larry Lange And His Lonely Knights will each do a full set, all to raise funds for our beloved Texana Dame, Traci Lamar Hancock, who has had a relapse of ovarian cancer. A donation at the door will be requested, a song in everyone’s heart will be required.
The event will actually be the first of several In The Name Of The Dame concerts for Traci, including at least three Thursday Latin-focus shows in January at Jovita’s and at least one at Antones, featuring Marsha Ball, Joe Ely, and many other of Traci’s hundreds of close personal friends.
Everyone in Austin does consider themselves one of Traci’s closest friends, as they do of all the Hancock family. Starting with Dad, Tommy X, and his forties band, The Roadside Playboys, continuing with the Supernatural Family Band, and culminating with the Texana Dames and various individual projects, the Hancocks are as much a part of the fabric of Austin music as anyone on the planet. And the jewels in the Hancock crown may be the Texana Dames, Charlene, Conni and Traci, who has mastered the Spanish sounds of the accordion and played them all over the world.
Every performer on this concert and those that will follow is doing it from his or her heart, all doing the best they can to give back just as Traci has always given it to them - honestly and straight from her soul.

THE CANDLELIGHT CAROLS
A New CD And CD Release Party to Benefit Candlelight Ranch
On December 6th, 2011, a new CD will be released. On December 11th, 2011, people will gather to celebrate the event. It all sounds so typically Austin, except that this CD and this event are very, very special. First, the CD: One of Austin’s most-beloved drummers, John Bush, of both Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians and Greezy Wheels, as well as dozens of other top Texas groups, has produced what could be the first great holiday compilation CD of the 21st Century. And it’s all for a most worthy cause. The Candlelight Carols, featuring some of Austin’s and America’s best performers, is eighteen killer tracks of holiday goodness, all done for the Candlelight Ranch, which provides a unique environment for special needs and at-risk children.
The tunes, about equally divided between standard favorites and fresh originals, range from rock-a-billy to Latin, with nearly every genre represented, and literally something for everyone. Most were recorded at John Bush’s Cicada Moon Studios. The who’s who of performers: Edie Brickell, John Popper (Blues Traveler) & Patrice Pike (duet), Bubba Hernandez (Brave Combo, Los Super Vatos), Redd Volkaert, The Jitterbug Vipers, Matt Hubbard, Dale Watson, Greezy Wheels, Landis Armstrong, David Garza, Penny Jo Pullus, Lissa Hattersley and the Miracle Waters, McLemore Avenue, Zydeco Blanco, Sara Hickman, Bluesqueezebox, Chrissy Flatt and Layne Jackson. A must CD for anyone's holiday collection.
The event: There will be a CD release party! On December 11th, starting at 2:30PM, a good many of these folks are going to gather at the Saxon Pub to play and and sing these songs - an afternoon of holiday carols, quaffs and merriment. All proceeds (100%) from the sale of The Candlelight Carols, copies of which will be available at the event, go directly to The Candlelight Ranch, and Mr. Bush has vowed that he will put out a second completely new holiday CD next year. Donations will also be accepted at the door.
